Today we are celebrating Rosette's 95th birthday. Lise arrived from Hampden on Friday to prepare a festive meal for over 100 descendants (and their dependents), siblings (Paul 93 y., Rachelle 90, and Germaine 88), and closest friends of Rosette. Danielle and her children (Karim is a film maker by profession) will present a film on her and her 19 children.
Rosette is as young and enthusiastic about life as ever. Some of the phrases that spontaneously come to my mind thinking back the past year since her last birthday are "Mom, don't run, wait for Luc" (Luc is her first child, 73 y.) and "Mom, what's the name of this actor who..." and the like. When she is around, instead of straining our brains for some facts and figures, we take advantage of her memory always ready for instant retrieval.
Her birthday convenes her children dispersed in North America, and the season dictates some accompanying activities. For example, as a pre-event of today's big event, 16 selected golfers of the family played vegas yesterday in four foursomes. Rosette used to be a golf aficionado and played it till her 90th birthday. In many senses, her birthday is the single happiest day of the year for the whole happy clan, and the joy increases every year with its additional portion of seeing her still in good health and spirits. Long live our Rosette!
